Assume Responsibility – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Proverbs 16:16 How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! We are on Day 1646 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Antoine de Saint-Exupery, and it is: A leader is a person who assumes responsibility. They say, I was beaten. They do not say, my team was beaten.
Assume Responsibility
I realize that it is a problem that has been with us since the beginning of human history. Still, it sure seems like we live in a generation where way too many people are unwilling to accept responsibility. There is such an entitlement mentality among many people that I find it hard to accept. I realize that others may not have had the solid upbringing and parental training that I was blessed with, but our modern society lacks this same training. Especially as a leader, or person of authority, we must assume responsibility for every choice and decision we make and for every action we take. It is not easy to assume the responsibility at times, mainly when you may not have directly involved, but those you are responsible for have not performed correctly. If you lead others, you automatically become ultimately responsible for all of their decisions and actions. If you are willing to do this, those you lead will learn from you and respect your leadership. Let us take time to train those we lead, which may be employees, associates, children, or grandchildren, to assume responsibility for their decisions and actions. It is up to us to make disciples of those who we impact. It is undoubtedly a principle throughout the entirety of God’s Word. Take time to read the story that Jesus Christ taught about being a faithful servant and accepting responsibility in Matthew 25:14-30.
Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.
As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.’
