What Did You Say? – Humor Unplugged

Wisdom – the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek! Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1307 of our Trek, and time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life. Something to cheer you and provide a bit a levity in your life. We are told in Proverbs 15:30 A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. We are also encouraged in Proverbs 17:22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s funny which is titled:
What Did You Say?
Mr. Smith, an elderly gentleman, had serious hearing problems for a number of years. His family begged him to go see an audiologist, but he continued to refuse to go, thinking that his hearing wasn’t that bad. Finally, he decided maybe it was time, but he was too embarrassed to admit it to his family, so he made an appointment himself. On his appointment date, He went to Dr. Jones, the best hearing specialist in town. Dr, Jones was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed Mr. Smith to hear 100%.
About a month later, Mr. Smith went back to see Dr. Jones for a follow-up visit to have his new hearing aids checked and adjusted if needed. Dr. Jones checked him out and proudly proclaimed, “Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again.”
With a bit of a smile on his face, Mr. Smith confessed, “Oh, I haven’t told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I’ve changed my will three times!”
I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did pass your smile onto some else, we all could use a good smile. Our Thursday thought is: “Blindness separates us from things, but deafness separates us from people.”
Helen Keller
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

A person who is truly grateful for all that they have in life not only feels grateful, but also expresses gratitude, first of all, to God, and then to others who have positively impacted their lives. Another sign of a person who is truly grateful is that they frequently give thanks. Sure, it is easy to be thankful when all is going well, but what about the times of anxiety, hardship, illness, and loss? I know, it is difficult when you are overwhelmed, tired, or not feeling well to continually give thanks. When you are struggling, it is important to establish or continue habits that will help you to overcome these issues. You must invest in yourself. Get adequate sleep, exercise on a regular basis, eat nutritious, wholesome foods, read encouraging and beneficial information, minimize the negative influence in your life, and, most of all, feed your mind with what is good and Godly. Here are a couple of passages that will help you to get started on shifting your mindset if you find it difficult to be grateful for everything.
If you need help with changing your mindset and building character – dwell on

Change is always coming, ready, or not. We must learn to embrace it. We must learn to accept it. Don’t resist it. Change is not only a part of life; change is a necessary part of God’s strategy. To use us to build His kingdom and change the world, God alters our assignments. Gideon: from farmer to general; Ester: from a young lady in exile to a queen; Mary: from peasant girl to the mother of Christ; Paul: from local rabbi to world evangelist. God transitioned Joseph from a baby brother to an Egyptian prince. He changed David from a shepherd to a king. God changed Jacob from a master of deceit to the father of the 12 tribes of Israel. Peter wanted to fish the Sea of Galilee. God called him to lead the first church. Although the path to change was very difficult for each of these individuals, and it is many times with us, God makes reassignments.
They do if we see them from an eternal perspective. What makes no sense in this life will make perfect sense in the next. I have proof: you in the womb. I know you don’t remember this prenatal season, neither do I, so let me remind you what happened during it. Every gestation day equipped you for your earthly life. Your bones solidified, your eyes developed, the umbilical cord transported nutrients into your growing frame…for what reason? So you might remain enwombed? Quite the contrary. Womb time equipped you for earth time, suited you up for your postpartum existence.
Certain chapters in this life seem so unnecessary, like nostrils on the preborn. Suffering. Loneliness. Disease. Holocausts. Martyrdom. Monsoons. If we assume this world exists just for pre-grave happiness, these atrocities disqualify it from doing so. But what if this earth is the womb? Might these challenges, severe as they may be, serve to prepare us, equip us for the world to come? Let us not resist God changing us from who we are today who He desires us to be. Resistance is Futile, let God have His way in your life. As the Apostle Paul wrote, in
