You Are a Chosen Person – Wisdom Unplugged
Thank you for joining us for our 5 days per week wisdom and legacy building podcast. This is Day 517 of our trek, and it is time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Thomas Kempis, who said, “It is no little wisdom for you to keep yourself in silence and in good peace when evil words are spoken to you, and to turn your heart to God and not to be troubled with the judgment of others.”
None of us likes to be talked about in a negative or evil manner. It hurts us to the very core. When this happens, how do you react? When this happens, which it will, there are several things we need to take into consideration.
First, be honest with yourself and ask, is there some truth to what is being said about me? If so, don’t retaliate, but work toward overcoming those issues. If what is being said about you is not true, then don’t feel that you have to argue or combat what is said. Consider the source, and realize what others think or say about you does not change who you really are. The truth about you will be evident over time, and usually, when someone speaks ill of others, it is to cover up their own weaknesses and insecurities.
Be careful yourself not to judge others or retaliate, or you will fall victim to the same issue as those who speak ill of you. Do not allow what others say about or to you to impact who you really are and stop you from reaching your God-given potential. Most of all realize that God considers you a chosen person, a royal priest as 1 Peter 2:9 tells us, “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
