Be a Person of Vision and Purpose – Wisdom Unplugged

Thank you for joining us for our five days per week wisdom and legacy building podcast. This is Day 845 of our trek, and it is time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.

Today’s quote is from Cecil Beaton, and it is,“Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.”

Be a Person of Purpose and Vision

So often we muddle through life without a purpose or vision. We are on a treadmill of life where the scenery never changes, and we really don’t make any advancement. We are stuck in one place going through the same motions as if we were robots with little artificial or real intelligence. We become slaves of the ordinary.

This should not be. We have an abundance of God-given abilities and talents, and yet we choose not to utilize them. We would rather wallow in mediocrity that is comfortable than excel in the challenges that require effort.  Break free of the shackles that bind you. Be daring, different, even impractical at times. Move forward faster and farther than you feel that you can, but always with the integrity of purpose and imaginative vision.

The Apostle Peter puts it this way in 1 Peter 2:9.

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
